Indoor Pool Decor

So, you've sprung for the indoor pool. But aside from the pool's all-season-use capability and a few smartly placed plants, how can you liven up your poolside? It's simple. Here, we'll give you a few tips and tricks to make your indoor pool a waterside paradise.

Lights, please

When your pool isn't in use, but its surroundings are, consider a multitude of floating candles (romantic dinner by the water, anyone?). Also adding a little glow to the scene are color-changing light fixtures that attach to your pool's return line or floating glow lanterns, light gardens, and easy-to-install light shows to make your pool a rainbow of color at all hours. A last easy lighting trick: purchase a few colored plastic lens covers for your pool's existing lights.

Practical pleasures

Just because your pool accessories are useful doesn't mean they have to be ordinary. Scout out a decorative towel rack to place by your pool's entry, and look for a durable waterproof chest in which to keep towels, blankets, robes, and other pre- or post-swimming attire.

A look inside

If you have the time and resources, consider dressing up your pool with a tiled mosaic - the market has many water-themed designs and more general abstract motifs. Install tiles yourself or professionally using traditional ceramic tiling techniques - namely grouting and tiling small areas at a time - before you fill your pool with water. Also be sure to finish all pool tiling of any kind with a good waterproof grout.
